The question of whether or not to pursue a doctoral degree is frequently pondered by student personnel administrators looking to further their knowledge and open new career opportunities. Join us for a panel conversation where we will discuss the benefits and challenges of pursuing a terminal degree, various degree programs to consider, and other practical considerations. There will be an opportunity for attendees to engage with the panelists.

Nicole J. Boymook is the executive director of student concerns at Fuller Theological Seminary. She works with students, staff, and faculty to help foster an antiracist climate. Boymook has worked in higher education for more than 20 years and is an educator, mentor, and administrator for bettering the student experience. She holds a master’s in marriage and family therapy and a doctorate in higher education leadership from Azusa Pacific University.

Asa J. Lee serves as president of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He came to the presidency after seven years of service at Wesley Theological Seminary as vice president for campus administration and associate dean for community life. He has served on the faculty of Northern Virginia Community College and is often a guest lecturer at workshops and seminars dealing with Christianity in the 21st century, religious difference, and issues affecting church leadership. Lee completed the DMin in educational leadership at Virginia Theological Seminary after earning the MDiv from Wesley Theological Seminary. Lee was licensed by the Faith Shepherd Baptist Church of Washington, DC, and ordained by the Mount Olive Baptist Church of Arlington, Virginia, where he served for ten years as the assistant pastor/minister of Christian education. He has held membership in several professional and social organizations, including the American Academy of Religion, the Religious Education Association, and the Association of Leadership Educators.

Amy E. Steele is executive director of programming and dean of The Upper Room Chapel in Nashville, TN. She is an administrator and womanist social ethicist who has deep commitments to understand faith, preaching, and social justice. Her research interests also include 20th century Black religious thought, especially the works of Howard Thurman. Prior to her appointment to The Upper Room, she served as assistant dean for student affairs and community life at Vanderbilt University Divinity School. She earned both her MDiv and PhD in religion (ethics and society) from Vanderbilt University Divinity School.
