Doing Theological Education Together: Perspectives, Problems, Possibilities—For Such a Time as This
By registration; Designed for ATS member school administrators, faculty, students, and anyone interested in global awareness and engagement in theological education, this webinar will explore collaborative approaches to theological education and emphasize the importance of shared learning across diverse traditions, backgrounds, and contexts.
The webinar will examine varying perspectives on what it means to “do theology” collectively, identifying challenges including cultural, denominational, and institutional barriers. It will also delve into practical possibilities for creating inclusive, innovative spaces for theological formation that promote mutual learning, dialogue, and co-creation.

J. Jayakiran Sebastian is the H. George Anderson Chair and professor of mission and cultures at United Lutheran Seminary | Gettysburg + Philadelphia. He is a Presbyter of the Church of South India and taught at United Theological College in Bangalore, where he served as chairperson of the Department of Theology and Ethics and dean of doctoral studies. He served as dean of the seminary for 12 years. His research interests include the ongoing relevance of the early teachers of faith, baptism and the unity of the church, the conversion debate in India today, the challenges of Dalit theology and praxis, and contemporary missiological thinking and its implications in a pluralistic society.
